Val Rapidserv is the only St. Cloud place that everyone on the Metro seems to know, and for good reason this charming little cottage serves a modern McDonald's - today half price. The House of Pizza is a local institution, but why it performs well is still a mystery, although it is fairly centrally located and has charming old - school-painted - outdoor murals.
In this surprisingly spacious breakfast room, you can quickly enjoy waffles made from yeast, clearly made from scratch and using the best ingredients. It's a similarly inexpensive, inexpensive treat, though even the eggs and waffles themselves are small squares. They are flavoured with syrup and have different breakfast flavours, but clearly not as good as some of the other options.
The bacon is really chewy and crispy, the sausages are rich and tender with a satisfying snapshot, and the hash browns have a crispy, soft exterior and interior. The wallet itself is a little less impressive; a more aggressive roast would have created a textual contrast of taste that the otherwise pleasant, mild - to - no - flavor dish could have used. But with the bread coating it's a treat and is top notch.

The 1.50 is incredibly crisp and just as pleasant, while the surprisingly light and tender filling is offset by a little barely cooked onion. There are no meatballs, but they are a nice addition to the menu and a good alternative to what I often stumble across in a similar soup.
I ordered a single Bavarian cream pancake (5 dollars), because I was somehow expecting a swollen donut - like a mixture that clumsily rolled into a flattop. The apple pancakes ($6.00) were a bit too thick and covered with whipped cream for my taste, but not bad for the price.
They were good, but not as good as they were remarkable, which is a good sign of the quality of food here in Saint Cloud, Minnesota.
The beauty of this dish is that the beef comes from a medium-heavy breed that is cooked in broth right in front of your eyes. There's a mild sweetness that complements the chicken, and the quality of the popover lifts the whole dish. The burrito that really rewards your attention is a deeply aromatic filling with a good amount of meat and a nice touch of cheese. This pizza from the working day is made into something worthy of cravings by the added depth of flavour of the cheese and the addition of fresh herbs and spices.
In any case, the Place de la Concorde is a sight to behold for sore eyes, and the serious, hard-working guests are a thing of beauty.

As an added bonus, the shop owner and guest chef was so warm and kind to accompany me on my first day in town. The hospitality was spot on at the clean and modern Nori Cafe, which has temporarily closed, where we ordered and enjoyed a Somali tea chai ($2.50) that offered spicy milky sweetness. It was a nice change from the usual sweet and sour tea in a café, but still good for you.
